Eden, New Bailey in the heart of bustling Salford is recognised as one of the UK’s most environmentally friendly buildings and was developed for ‘businesses who are serious about protecting the planet.’
Designed by architecture firm Make, it features Europe's largest green wall, entirely fed by harvested rainwater and devised to absorb air pollution, enhance biodiversity, reduce urban temperatures, and provide thermal benefits.
The stunning social hub and mezzanine floor was created by the team at SpaceInvader to foster an active and collaborative community environment, in which the lighting design for the scheme needed to help create a variety of zones with different moods for task-oriented work or relaxation. To make the vision a reality, Light Forms created custom designs to match the varying ambience and functional needs of each space utilising the Sepentine, Nova 62 and Lightrod 80 products. Furthermore, lighting was a key feature of the ground floor sculptural installation in which the Lyra product was housed in a bespoke carboard tube to create a stunning and impressive entrance.
To enhance the scheme’s human-centric experience further, the majority of the light fixtures have tuneable white LEDs, allowing the colour temperature of the space to change to suit the environment and reflect natural circadian rhythms. All architectural fixtures are DALI dimmable, enabling complete control of the light output and energy consumption throughout the space.
